Seasons Change

Today, we woke up to a brisk 60 degrees of fall weather.  The first this year!  The only problem:  we weren't in Louisville.  We were in Centerville, OH.  Louisville has had record breaking heat the past 2 weeks with everyday being above 90!!  It's been awful!  Today was totally different.  A mild 70 with it getting even lower this afternoon and expecting rain.  Now that is what we are waiting for!
It is quite a spectacular sight to see nature change.  God made the changing of seasons by the rotation of the earth in orbit and gave us constellations in order to mark those seasons.  Kallie and I are having a season of change ourselves with the growth of our little girl in the womb of her wonderful mother.  What can I say?  Seasons change!  This fall season will be our last without a little tike to care for.
It's shocking to think about almost 30 fall seasons have past in my life.  I remember driving through the mountains of PA during the fall season on I-81 to our soccer games in high school.  My parents were often the ones driving us (in fact, I think it was every single time).  I remember my dad telling us, "Look at the leaves!  Remember, you'll only have so many fall seasons to see this."  He was right.  Every one of us should be outside sometime this fall looking at the leaves.  Yeah, they can be annoying to rake up and even more awful to drag out to the curb.  But let us remember: we only have so many fall seasons left.  Each of us, if the Lord tarries, will become like those leaves and die.  Even so, those who are saved through faith in Christ, though finding themselves on their last walk through a foreboding fall, will be made new in Christ when the Spring of the new creation arrives!  Then, no more rakes or changing seasons...
